A Pioneer
It was in 1960 that Mr. Wilfrid Grenier founded a multidisciplinary company culminating his multiple skills
and knowledge in the Forest Industry and aerial imagery acquisition.
Mr. Grenier was indeed a pioneer and a visionary. With
his passion for nature, the Northern Quebec territory and
the Forest Industry, he founded what would later become Groupe Alta. Mr. Grenier succeeds in his endeavors to challenge the Geospatial Industry and to discover new
opportunities for innovation.
A Heritage
It was in 1974, that Mr. Grenier handed down the company to his youngest son Paul, a Geospatial Engineer. Paul would lead the company to success as he continued to develop its products and services, by adding an extensive imagery processing laboratory and a production laboratory specializing in cartography and surveying as well as software development. With a professional and multidisciplinary team, he would ensure the development and success of the organization on a national and international level.
With the continuous challenges of the Geospatial Industry, the most significant project was launched in 1999. “Citipix”, would be the most important high-resolution aerial imagery acquisition project to ever be executed. This project would cover several American Cities across the United States; a production of over 600,000 images and orthophotos at a resolution of 15 cm. “Citipix” remains to this day, the most significant project ever accomplished in the Geospatial Industry.
In 2004, renowned for being the most experienced in the Geospatial Industry, Groupe Alta develops strategic partnerships and alliances and acquires other important divisions to add to its products and services. Always at the forefront, Groupe Alta becomes a leader in integrated Geospatial technologies, Web applications, geospatial data subscription programs and customized business solutions accessible to multiple industries and customers worldwide.
